I've loved art works, especially paintings from the Impressionist period, since I took an art appreciation course in college. While in NYC last summer, I visited the MMOA, but finding the Impressionist exhibit closed, headed over to take a look at the special Picasso exhibit, and on the way to that, found a number of 20th century artists' works scattered about.
My method was to get close enough to photograph the work just inside the frame. I may have lost a few details on the edges, but feel that I captured the essence of the paintings without the aggravation of dealing with the frame. However, I failed to get the descriptions of some, so I left those with a ?? caption. If you can help me identify any of these, please leave a comment below.
Wikipedia on Picasso (1881 – 1973): a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor who lived most of his adult life in France. He is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937), his portrayal of the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.
